Building connections with people and the right resources is key to ensuring success in your home-buying journey, especially as a first-time buyer. Access to the right people could help with recommendations for mortgage brokers and building contractors, whilst access to the right resources like seminars and courses, allows you to build on your property knowledge independently.

With the new Labour leadership, which has promised to be the party of homeownership, there are new things like the Renter’s Reform Bill that are necessary to be aware of when investing in property. Events like the few mentioned in this list can help connect you with further information on this matter. So without further ado, here is a list of the UK’s best real estate and property events.

1. Grand Designs Live

Based on the Channel 4 TV series, Grand Designs, Grand Designs Live is an annual property show that offers expert advice, exhibitors, live talks and more. This particular property show is perfect for self-build and renovation consumer enthusiasts. The home design and renovation exhibition takes place each year in London and Birmingham and is sectioned into four project zones – Builds, Kitchens and Bathrooms, Gardens and Interiors. This helps you with visual design concepts for your property.

As the host of the TV show, designer Kevin McCloud will also be at the event based in Birmingham from 2nd-6th October 2024 and at ExCel London from 2nd – 5th May 2025.

BrickzWithTipz co-Founders, Antoinette & Tayo Oguntonade have spoken at this event previously and will also see Dragon Den‘s Steven Bartlett speak too.

You can expect workshops, interactive panels, and seminars delivered by experts across a range of industries, including real estate experts. The next UK Black Business Show takes place on Saturday 19th October 2024, at ExCel London. 2021 statistics revealed that there is a disparity in home ownership in the Black community, as just 30% of Black families are homeowners. A more recent 2023 study revealed that Black people in England and Wales are three times as likely to live in social housing. Events like the UKBB Show aim to provide the resources to help bridge this gap.

3. Ideal Home Show

The Ideal Home Show is a home improvement exhibition where you can learn about the latest home and garden trends. From smart homes to demonstrating the future of living to interior design inspiration, the Ideal Home Show showcases design ideas to help your house truly feel like a home. The Ideal Home Show next takes place on 21st March – 6th April 2025.

There is also a festive version of the event, too. Taking place from 27 November to 1 December 2024, there is also a Christmas version of the event called Ideal Home Show Christmas. Here you can expect free talks from experts about your home for the festive season. There will be a life-sized Ideal Christmas Home. This is a perfect family day out as there will also be other fun festive workshops like creating wreaths and more.
